When talking about Japanese cuisine, you simply can’t skip things like ohitashi, simmered dishes, miso soup, or tonjiru.
And on days when the main dish is fish, don’t you sometimes hear, “That’s not enough!” from growing kids?
Or is that just my house…?

 
 

At times like that, a hearty, ingredient-packed miso soup does the trick.
On the other hand, when the main dish is something rich like fried chicken or ginger pork, lighter side dishes work best.
It’s all about balance—and the presentation is beautiful too.
